FREE summer meals for KIDS

School is out, and FREE summer meals are in, from June 29th through August 27th. Any child 18 years old and under can enjoy a free, healthy, and great-tasting breakfast and lunch every weekday at hundreds of schools, pools, parks, New York City Housing Authority complexes, and other locations around New York City. No registration, documentation, or ID is required: your child doesn’t even need to be enrolled in public school to enjoy a delicious free meal. Breakfast will be served from 8:00 a.m. to 9:15 a.m., and lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Finding a summer meals site near you is easy: just call 311 to find a convenient location or click here to learn more about the program.

Free IT Training: Ages 18-24.....internship opportunity If you know any one with a high school diploma or a GED who are between the ages of 18-24 yrs old and have an interest in IT. Refer them to this site http://www.yearup.org to learn more about this free program. This program asks for a 1 year commitment between the hours of 8:30 am and 5:00 pm. They provide the student with a stipend and after six months, internships at companies such as Freddie Mac and AOL to name a few.

READ: JOB OPPORTUNITY FOR HIGH SCHOOLERS

READ trains and supports high school students to provide structured, research-based one-to-one tutoring to at-risk kindergarten and first grade students in basic reading skills. READ tutors have ongoing training, and all tutoring is done under the supervision of licensed teachers. The READ summer programs run 3.5 hours a day for 23-25 days, usually on the same schedule as the Department of Education summer school. READ tutors earn $8.50 per hour. NYC HISTORIC PROPERTIES FUND

Funding Historic Restorations Crow Hill has been designated a historic district and therefore property owners wishing to make historic renovations may qualify for the Historic Properties Fund which offers low-interest loans and project management assistance to owners of historic residential, non-profit, religious, and commercial properties throughout the City – mostly in low- to moderate-income communities. Since 1982, the Historic Properties Fund has assisted over 200 buildings. Ready to apply for citizenship but want free assistance to complete the forms?

The Crown Heights Community Mediation Center (a non-profit organization) is offering FREE ASSISTANCE to eligible individuals to complete the N-400 citizenship application forms. The dates are:

• April 7 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
• April 29 4 pm- 8 pm
• May 15 10 am -3 pm

If you are eligible to apply, you will be scheduled to meet with a trained volunteer to fill out the N-400 form and receive information about the additional requirements and documents you will need to complete your application.

As you may know, LaunchPad recently had an open call for art donations. The response was amazing and more than 30 artists donated their work to help support LaunchPad. The auction opened at the LaunchPad party this past Saturday, and we received a lot of bids that evening. We are now opening the auction online for greater exposure.
