| READ trains and supports high school students to provide structured, research-based one-to-one tutoring to at-risk kindergarten and first grade students in basic reading skills. READ tutors have ongoing training, and all tutoring is done under the supervision of licensed teachers. The READ summer programs run 3.5 hours a day for 23-25 days, usually on the same schedule as the Department of Education summer school. READ tutors earn $8.50 per hour.
