| Because of their previous discriminatory hiring practices, New York City Fire Department is under strict Federal court order to fix their numbers therefore NYFD is recruiting HEAVILY in the African-American communities in order to hire approximately 1,000 new firepersons in the next two years. College credit requirement has been waived. NYFD will hire persons with a high school diploma and will pay for these new hires to attend John Jay College to earn the required 60 credits. NYFD will be holding tutorials classes prior to the test to prep applicants in order to get the highest number of African Americans qualified as possible. Both men and women should apply.
